At Hadjipaterion Center we offer the opportunity to the children to attend programs at the Speech and Language Therapy department. Our aim is: to assess the child’s communication and linguistic competences, to reinforce and develop the child’s verbal and non-verbal communication, that is the expression (in any form) of the child’s thoughts and feelings, and the understanding of what people actually think, feel and want.
Our speech and language therapists assess and intervene in any type of disorder that affect human communication, whichever the cause of these disorders may be neurological, developmental or functional.
Children attend individualized and group speech and language programs based on their competences and needs, in case of:
Language disorders:
Disorders in the expression or understanding of the oral and/or written language. Language disorders affect the level of morphology/grammar, syntaxis, vocabulary and use.
Speech disorders:
Speech is the verbal expression of language. It refers to disorders in any of the speech subsystems: articulation, respiration, phonation, resonance, and prosody.
Swallowing disorders:
Swallowing disorders (or dysphagia) refer to problems during feeding and can occur at all stages in the swallowing process.
Both evaluation and therapeutic intervention take place in cooperation with the rest of the Interdisciplinary Team.
